The present day DOOS Project is the result of the efforts of several individuals over the past several years.  The dedication and contribution of key individuals have been pivotal in bringing the necessary focus and resources to bear on behalf of the deep ocean observing community.

Primary among these individuals are the lead authors and programs leaders that contributed to the DOOS Consultative Draft.  In 2016 many of these key stakeholders and sponsors participated in a series of events, including a global workshop conducted at Scripps Institution of Oceanography.  Based on these activities the DOOS Project has now identified a Steering Committee under the leadership of three Co-Chairs.
